Scott and Evelyn Names had more than a fondness for sports. They had a passion. Athletics and physical education played a central role in their lives and in the lives of their children. If the Names’ family was ever not outside playing sports, you could be sure of one thing: they were inside watching sports.
their passion for sports extends not only to the Names’ family 3rd and 4th generations, but to every resident across Pierce County. All of us get to enjoy the facilities and complexes whose existence can be traced back to the selflessness of Scott and Sis.
the Names Family Foundation extends the passion of Scott and Sis by providing grants for non-profits that promote health, wellness and athletics. If you’re an advocate for physical education and believe in leading with your heart, apply today for a grant for your organization.
The Names Family Foundation exists to enrich the lives of every Puget Sound resident by providing grants to non-profit organizations that champion initiatives focused on sports, physical education, health and fitness.
The Names Family Foundation has awarded more than $30M in grants to non profits. While numbers tell part of the story, the Foundation’s true impact is more intangible. It’s the feeling that countless lives have been transformed by the generosity of two humble individuals: Scott and Sis Names.
Spaces for play sports and competition bring people together in ways no other buildings can. People engage with one another and form lasting bonds. Scott and Sis saw that sports have the power to bring all of us closer together – which is why the Names Family Foundation continues this legacy today.
Grants from the Foundation have helped to build everything from playgrounds to community centers to an aquatics complex. For us, projects that promote physical fitness do much more than improve health, they have the potential to improve relationships.
